cover your position and be a leader

Mechanics

Wild piches

  • Start with  balls along backstop.
  • Begin in Secondary position at the plate and break down to block.
  • Retrieve ball, slide to knees, rake the ball and make throw to the plate.
  • Add live wild pitch as drill progresses.

Bunts

  • Begin in secondary position.
  • Retrieve bunts on 1st, 3rd and middle area.
  • Focus on getting over the ball.
  • Focus on using both hands to rake the ball.
  • Focus on clearing a lane.
  • 3rd base side you will plant, spin and throw to 1st.

Tags at home

  • Begin in front of the plate.
  • Plate awareness is important
  • As you receive the ball drop your left foot back.
  • Secure the ball in the glove with the throwing hand.
  • Use a sweeping tag to avoid a collision with runner.
  • Allow right leg to swing with the tag.
  • Plant your right foot to align the next throw.

Force play at home

  • Begin in front of the plate.
  • Plate awareness is important.
  • As we receive the ball , right foot drops back to the edge of plate.
  • During  hand exchange, push off the plate to clear a lane.
